Just had the worst interview loop ever

So, I interviewed for a Senior Solutions Architect role last week and it was an absolute train wreck. First, the recruiter was 15 minutes late to the initial call. Fine, things happen. Then, the first interviewer spent the entire time grilling me about really obscure Lucene details, stuff I haven't touched in years. The next interviewer was clearly distracted and kept checking his phone. The system design round was okay, but the interviewer seemed totally disengaged. Finally, the hiring manager was 20 minutes late and didn't even apologize. Gave canned answers about the role and team, then rushed me off the call. I'm convinced they already had someone in mind and were just going through the motions. Honestly, after that experience, I'm not even sure I *want* the job anymore. What a waste of time.

Ugh, that sounds brutal. Been there, done that. Some companies just have really bad interview processes. Don't let it get you down too much. Just chalk it up to a learning experience and move on to the next one. You'll find a better fit eventually. Maybe leave a Glassdoor review to warn others?

Honestly, a lot of these 'Solutions Architect' roles are basically glorified sales engineers who need to know the product inside and out. Lucene might seem obscure, but it's the underlying engine. It's possible the interviewer was just trying to see if you had a deep understanding. Could be a red flag if they are that rigid though.
