Severance package - what to expect?

Okay, so hypothetically, if there were layoffs (and I'm not saying there ARE, but just *if*), what kind of severance package does Elastic usually offer? I've been here for 2.5 years, and I'm trying to get a sense of what I might be looking at. Is it weeks per year served? Is there a cap? Does it include benefits continuation? Any insights from people who've been through this before would be greatly appreciated. Trying to be prepared, just in case the rumors are true.

Heard similar rumors lately, so your concern is valid. Generally, tech companies offer 2 weeks per year of service, but Elastic might be different. Definitely try to discreetly check your offer letter or employee handbook; the policy might be outlined there. Cobra is usually offered for benefits continuation, but you'll be paying the full premium. Good luck, hope it's all just rumors!

Honestly, don't get your hopes up too high. While some companies are generous, others offer the bare minimum required by law. Two and a half years might only get you a few weeks of pay, plus whatever vacation time you have accrued. Start updating your resume now, regardless. Being proactive is always a good idea, even if everything is fine at Elastic. Having options is empowering.
