Just got the email and lost access to everything within 15 minutes. It’s the 612 person layoff that hit the Champaign office today. Honestly, I’m in shock. We were told for months that our unit was 'critical' and safe, but clearly, that was just corporate speak to keep us hitting deadlines until they could pull the plug. My manager didn't even know it was coming until an hour before the all-hands meeting. No transition plan, no nothing—just a severance package outline and a generic 'thank you for your service.' For those of us who have been here for 5+ years, this feels like a massive slap in the face. Is anyone actually getting a decent payout, or are they lowballing everyone? Checking the documents they sent, but it looks like standard boilerplate stuff. Time to update the resume, I guess. If anyone knows if they are still hiring in other hubs or if this is a company-wide freeze, let me know. Stay safe out there.
