Why does Elevance leadership keep lying about growth?

I’m honestly exhausted. How can leadership talk about record-breaking quarterly results and 'investing in the future' one day, and then dump hundreds of employees the next? The disconnect between the executive suite and the actual boots on the ground is reaching a breaking point. We are being asked to do the work of three people because of 'attrition' that they refuse to backfill, and then they have the audacity to execute these mass layoffs to pad the margin for the shareholders. I’ve been here long enough to see the cycles, but this feels different. The culture is completely hollowed out. There is no loyalty left because it’s obvious there is none coming from the top. I’m currently updating my resume and looking for an exit strategy, because waiting for an email from HR telling me my badge stopped working isn't a way to live. Anyone else just completely checked out?

It is the same old corporate playbook. They inflate the stock price with share buybacks and headcount reductions, all while pretending it is about efficiency. We see the truth when the quality of our work suffers and the remaining team members are forced into burnout. There is no long-term vision here, just a desperate race to meet the next quarterly projection at the expense of our mental health and stability.

I have stopped listening to the town halls entirely. When you hear the same hollow rhetoric about 'growth' and 'value' while watching your friends get logged out of their accounts, the trust completely evaporates. They treat us like line items on a balance sheet rather than the people actually keeping this company afloat. It is demoralizing to put in 60-hour weeks only to be told that we are somehow not contributing enough to the bottom line.
