EOG culture shifting? Feeling the squeeze

Is it just me or has the vibe in the office completely shifted over the last two months? Ever since the rumors of the March cuts started circulating, people are acting like they’re walking on eggshells. I’ve been here for over five years, and it used to feel like a pretty solid place to build a career, but now it feels like every project I’m on is being scrutinized to justify my existence. The lack of transparency from management is the most frustrating part. They talk about 'operational efficiency' and 'leaner structures' in the town halls, but we all know that’s just code for doing more with less until they decide to pull the rug out from under another department. I’m honestly starting to look at other operators just to see if the grass is greener, or if this is just standard industry practice right now. Anyone else feeling like the loyalty is gone?

It is definitely not just you. The culture has shifted from being performance-driven to being survival-driven. Five years ago, we were rewarded for bold ideas and efficiency, but now, every meeting feels like an interrogation. Management keeps preaching about 'operational efficiency,' but it is just code for cutting headcount to keep the stock price propped up. The transparency is non-existent, and the stress in the hallways is palpable. I have started looking elsewhere because the atmosphere is no longer sustainable for long-term growth.

Hang in there. I have been at EOG for a while too, and I have seen these cycles before. It is frustrating to feel like you are under a microscope for every project, but that is the reality of the current leadership's cost-cutting mandate. They are clearly prioritizing lean operations over morale right now. If you can keep your head down and focus on delivering high-impact results, you might be able to weather the storm, but it is wise to keep your options open if the environment continues to turn toxic.
