Severance package expectations if layoffs hit?
So, with all the chatter about the energy market and some companies already making moves, I'm starting to think about worst-case scenarios at EOG. I've been with the company for about 8 years, currently in a mid-level engineering role. If the unthinkable happens and layoffs do occur, what's a realistic severance package to expect? I've heard different things from friends at other O&G companies – some got 2 weeks per year, others a flat 3 months. Any intel from people who might have gone through this at EOG before, or maybe know someone who did? Trying to be prepared just in case, although I'm really hoping it doesn't come to that.
Anyone else seeing budget cuts / hiring freeze at EOG?
Been at EOG for about 5 years now, working in the Permian Basin operations team. Lately, things have felt... weird. We were told Q3 budgets are tighter than expected, and there's a complete freeze on all open requisitions. Even new hires for critical roles are on hold. My manager is being super cagey about it, just saying "economic headwinds." Anyone in other departments or regions hearing similar whispers? Feels like something's brewing, and I'm trying to gauge if it's just our group or company-wide. Worried about what this means for year-end reviews and potential future reductions. Trying not to panic, but it’s hard not to when the vibe is this off.
