EOG Resources - Rumblings and concerns about job security

Joining the conversation here because I'm starting to get a bit uneasy about EOG. I've seen a few projects get shelved or significantly scaled back recently, and there's been a noticeable slowdown in new hires, even for roles that were previously hard to fill. It's not just my department either; I've spoken with colleagues in other divisions, and they're reporting similar observations. There's a general feeling of uncertainty in the air, and while I appreciate that the energy sector can be cyclical, this feels different. People are whispering about potential 'right-sizing' exercises. Has anyone had direct conversations with management about future staffing levels, or have any managers hinted at potential changes? Trying to gauge the general sentiment and whether this is a widespread feeling or just my isolated experience. Appreciate any insights.

I've been with EOG for a while and have seen cycles like this before. While the slowdown in hiring and project adjustments can be unsettling, it's often a sign of prudent management in a volatile industry. They've weathered storms in the past by being efficient and adaptable. Focusing on core strengths and operational excellence is probably the best approach for now. Hang in there, things often pick up when market conditions shift.

The uncertainty is definitely palpable. It's hard not to feel a bit anxious when projects are being re-evaluated and the hiring pipeline seems to have dried up. I'm hoping this is just a temporary market correction and not indicative of deeper issues. Keeping an eye on oil prices and company statements closely. Hopefully, management will provide more clarity soon to ease some of these concerns.
