Upper management disconnect is getting worse

Is it just me, or does the disconnect between the leadership’s 'efficiency' goals and the reality of our daily workload feel wider than ever? We keep hearing about record production and operational excellence, yet here we are, doing the work of three people because headcount keeps shrinking. You can only cut so much fat before you start cutting into the muscle, and it feels like we hit that point months ago. It’s impossible to maintain any level of morale when we’re just waiting for the next round of shoes to drop. I miss when this place felt like a career rather than just a revolving door. Everyone is burnt out, cynical, and just waiting for the inevitable invite to a meeting that could have been an email, followed by a box of personal belongings. Honestly, at this point, I’m just waiting for a better offer so I can stop looking over my shoulder every time my manager schedules a 1-on-1.

It is the same old story at EOG. They are obsessed with keeping the street happy by slashing headcounts and inflating those production metrics, but they completely ignore the burnout happening in the field. When you are running on a skeleton crew, safety starts to slide, and eventually, the whole operation will pay the price for these short-sighted corporate mandates. Management is too busy chasing stock buybacks to realize the people actually driving those numbers are completely burnt out and looking for the exit.

Honestly, the disconnect is becoming impossible to ignore. Every town hall meeting is just another slide deck full of corporate buzzwords about 'operational excellence' while we are struggling to manage three different roles just to keep things running. It is clear that the focus has shifted entirely to the bottom line at the expense of everyone on the ground. I have been here a long time, but the culture has shifted toward squeezing every drop of productivity out of us until there is nothing left. It is getting exhausting.
