Ford's EV focus: cutting ICE, what does that mean for us?

Seeing all these articles about Ford shifting focus to EVs and cutting back on traditional production lines. It makes sense from a business perspective, I guess, but where does that leave the people working on those ICE vehicles? Are we just supposed to magically become EV experts overnight? I'm worried about my role long-term. It feels like the ground is shifting under our feet and I'm not sure if I'll be able to keep up. Anyone else in a similar boat? Trying to figure out if this is a widespread concern or just my department. Thinking about upskilling but it's hard to know which direction to go when the company strategy keeps evolving.

I hear your concerns. It's definitely a big transition, and the uncertainty is understandable. I've been seeing a lot of talk about retraining programs and opportunities within the EV sector, so maybe there will be avenues for people to adapt. The industry is changing fast, and it's natural to feel a bit on edge when your role might be affected.

Totally feel this. It's a massive shift, and the speed of it is the most unsettling part. While the business logic of EVs is clear, the human impact is huge. Hopefully, Ford has solid plans for their current workforce, offering meaningful pathways into the new technology rather than just expecting people to absorb it.
