Feeling the ripple effects post-WARN filing

It’s been a rough week since the WARN notice dropped. I haven't been impacted directly yet, but the mood in the office is absolutely soul-crushing. Watching desks start to empty out, even if it's only 133 people, it creates this immediate culture of fear. Has anyone had any luck getting clarity from HR on severance packages or extended benefits for those caught in this round? My manager is acting like they have zero information, which I’m starting to think is a lie. I’m currently looking at the job boards and it’s rough out there, but staying here feels like waiting for the next shoe to drop. If you’re a manager or someone with actual insider knowledge, please drop a hint if there’s a second wave coming before the end of the year. I’m exhausted from the constant pivots and the 'do more with less' mantra that clearly isn't sustainable.

I was caught in a previous round of cuts here, and honestly, don't hold your breath waiting for HR to be transparent. They are trained to keep things vague until the absolute last second to minimize liability. If your manager claims they don’t know anything, they might actually be telling the truth—corporate keeps middle management in the dark to prevent office rumors from spiraling. Start documenting everything, keep your resume updated, and reach out to anyone you know in other departments. It’s a cynical environment, but you have to prioritize your own exit strategy before the next notice lands.

It is honestly depressing to watch the place drain like this. The atmosphere is toxic, and the silence from leadership just makes the paranoia worse. I wouldn't trust HR to give you a straight answer regarding severance; their priority is protecting the company's bottom line, not looking out for the staff. Start networking externally immediately. Even if you aren't on the list this time, the writing is on the wall for the long-term outlook. Don't wait for them to decide your future for you. Get your portfolio ready and start looking elsewhere before the market gets even more saturated.
