October 10th cuts: Who else got the calendar invite?

Just saw the notification hit the internal portal. They’re claiming it’s a 'strategic shift,' but we all know the drill by now. My department got hit pretty hard this morning—around 105 people let go across the board. It’s brutal timing with the quarter ending. I’ve been here for four years and the atmosphere is just suffocating. Leadership is sending out the usual 'thank you for your contributions' emails while the rest of us are left staring at empty Slack accounts. Has anyone heard if there’s a second wave coming or is this the extent of the Q4 purge? Trying to figure out if I need to update my resume tonight or if I’m safe for another few months. Good luck to everyone currently packing up their desks.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It’s the same old story at Fox: they frame it as a 'strategic shift' to satisfy shareholders while gutting the actual talent that keeps the lights on. Losing 105 people in one go is devastating, especially when you’ve put in years of work. Don’t internalize their corporate spin; it’s a numbers game for them, not a reflection of your value. Take the day to process, update your resume, and reach out to your network once the shock wears off. You aren't alone in this.

Honestly, the writing has been on the wall for a while now. This isn't just a quarterly adjustment; it’s the standard playbook. Watching the Slack channels go quiet is the worst part—it’s like watching a ghost ship sail. If you survived the cull, keep your head down and start looking for an exit strategy immediately because they clearly aren't finished with the restructuring. For those who were cut, use the severance to take a breather, then pivot to a company that actually values its people. This place is a pressure cooker.
