So, I've been trying to get an update on a few requisitions my team submitted a while back, and the HR folks are being incredibly tight-lipped. The system shows them as 'on hold,' with no ETA. This is for critical roles we need filled yesterday. It's not just my department either; I've heard similar stories from other engineering groups. They're saying it's a 'strategic pause,' but a pause that lasts this long, without any clear communication, feels like a soft hiring freeze. Usually, you'd get some sort of heads-up if budgets were being squeezed that hard. It makes you wonder what's really going on behind the scenes. Anyone else experiencing this kind of slowdown in getting new folks on board, or finding it impossible to get budget approval for even essential hires? Feels like a bad sign, even without official word of layoffs.

I've seen that 'on hold' status before. Sometimes it's tied to budget reviews or shifts in business priorities that haven't trickled down to hiring managers yet.
