GE Aerospace: Internal transfers slowing down?

Has anyone else applied for or tried to facilitate an internal transfer within GE Aerospace recently? I've heard from a couple of people that the process seems to have ground to a halt. Normally, moving between teams or sites can be a bit of a headache, but it feels exceptionally difficult right now. Managers seem hesitant to approve openings, and HR is giving vague answers. It's adding to the general uncertainty that seems to be floating around. Is this a sign of budget tightening, or are they just re-evaluating their internal mobility strategy? Wondering if anyone has insight or has experienced something similar. Trying to gauge if this is a widespread issue or isolated to specific departments.

I've been trying to move teams within Aerospace for months now. It's beyond frustrating. My current manager is willing to let me go, but the hiring manager for the new role is stonewalling, saying they don't have headcount approval yet. HR just keeps saying 'process is ongoing.' It definitely feels like budgets are being squeezed, and they're prioritizing essential roles over internal mobility. The uncertainty is palpable.

Anecdotally, I've heard similar stories. It seems like a company-wide slowdown in transfers, not just Aerospace. My understanding from a few conversations is that leadership wants to get a clearer picture of the financial outlook before approving significant internal movements. It's probably a sensible, if unpopular, decision given the current economic climate. Hang in there, hopefully things will pick up soon.
