Just saw the news about GM laying off another 1000 folks, this time hitting Detroit. June 22nd, so pretty recent. Feels like the hits just keep coming for this company. Wondering how many more rounds are left in them. This latest batch was apparently spread across a few different areas, but Detroit seems to be taking a significant chunk. Hard to stay positive when you see these numbers. My cousin works there and he's been on edge for months. He says morale is in the toilet. Everyone's looking over their shoulder. They keep talking about restructuring and 'future investments,' but it always seems to translate to fewer people. Anyone else in Detroit hearing more details or seeing the impact firsthand? It's rough out here for automotive right now.

Man, that's brutal. Every time you see news like this about GM, it's another gut punch, especially for Detroit. It's tough to see a company that's been so central to that city's identity go through such a rough patch repeatedly. You have to wonder what the long-term strategy is, or if they're just reacting to immediate pressures. Hope your cousin lands on his feet whatever happens.

It's disheartening to hear about these ongoing layoffs at GM. The impact on communities like Detroit must be significant, affecting families and local economies. It raises serious questions about the company's stability and future direction. Seeing the morale drop among employees must be a direct consequence of this uncertainty. It's a worrying trend for sure.
