Is anyone actually *working* or just waiting for the axe to fall?

Seriously, I'm in IT and it feels like half my team is just spinning their wheels. Projects are stalled, approvals are taking forever, and everyone seems to be in meetings about 'synergy' and 'optimization'. I've been here 8 years, and I remember when things actually *moved*. Now it feels like we're just rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. My skip-level keeps saying 'record profits' but the vibe is totally 'impending doom'. Anyone else feeling this? I'm starting to look at other options just in case. Maybe it's time to jump before I'm pushed.

Dude, I feel you. I'm on the engineering side, and it's the same story. Endless process, layers of sign-off for the simplest changes, and a general lack of urgency. They keep telling us we're 'transforming' but it feels more like we're being slowly suffocated by bureaucracy. I've seen three restructurings in the last five years, and each one just makes things worse. Record profits don't trickle down when they're buying back stock and paying executives.

Honestly, a little skepticism is warranted. 'Record profits' can mask a lot. Are those profits sustainable? Are they reinvesting in R&D and infrastructure, or just squeezing more out of existing assets? I've been through corporate downturns before, and the 'impending doom' feeling is usually a good indicator something's about to give. Don't panic, but definitely polish up your resume and start networking. It's better to be prepared than blindsided.
