Okay, so another 1000 people are out at GM in Detroit, reported on the 22nd. This is becoming a pattern, and frankly, it's making me nervous about the long-term direction of the company. Are they shedding legacy operations faster than anticipated, or is this a sign of deeper financial trouble? It's hard to reconcile these massive cuts with the public statements about investing in new tech. Maybe they're consolidating roles aggressively, or perhaps certain divisions are simply being phased out ahead of schedule. I'm trying to understand the bigger picture here. What are others hearing? Is this a planned reduction, or a reaction to something more significant? Feels like a major fork in the road for GM.

The constant layoffs are definitely concerning. It's hard to feel secure about a company's future when they're repeatedly cutting jobs, even if they talk about future investments. It raises questions about whether they have a solid long-term plan in place or if it's more of a reactionary approach to immediate pressures. I'm wondering if they're truly pivoting to EVs and new tech, or if these cuts are a sign of struggling to compete in the current market and needing to slash costs drastically.
