Lansing Plant Shutdown - What's Next for GM?

Just saw the news about the 361 layoffs at the Lansing plant. Aug 14th. That's a pretty significant chunk of people. I've been hearing whispers for a while, but this feels pretty final for that location. Anyone working there or know someone affected? What's the official word from GM? Seems like the market's been tough, but is this just the beginning? Feels like the auto industry is in constant flux these days. Makes you wonder about job security even if you're not directly in manufacturing. Supply chain, R&D, admin... feels like nobody is safe. Curious to hear what people are hearing on the ground.

That's incredibly tough news for everyone at the Lansing plant. Thirty-six months is a lot of jobs to lose. It's hard not to worry about what this means for other GM facilities and the broader automotive sector. The constant shifts in production and market demands are definitely creating a lot of uncertainty for workers and their families. Hopefully, those affected can find new opportunities soon. The industry really needs to find a more stable path forward.
