Anyone else feel like the sword of Damocles is hanging over their head?

I'm in TMT and honestly, the vibes are just off. We're constantly told to be 'efficient' and 'streamline processes,' which, let's be real, is code for 'someone's getting the axe.' I've been here for 7 years, put in the hours, and consistently get 'exceeds expectations' on my reviews. But that doesn't seem to matter anymore. I keep seeing familiar faces disappear from the internal directory. Anyone else experiencing this? What's your team doing to prepare, or is it just me spiraling?

Totally feeling it. I'm not in TMT, but in another coverage group. The 'be lean' mantra is everywhere. I think it's more than just performance reviews; it's headcount reduction targets. What I'm doing is networking internally like crazy and making sure my LinkedIn is updated. I'm also trying to document every single thing I do, so if I *do* get the tap, I have a solid portfolio of accomplishments. Good luck, man. It's a stressful time.

Seven years and exceeds expectations? I'd say you're probably fine. Banks *always* push efficiency, that's just the nature of the beast. Maybe you're just noticing it more now because the market's down. If you were consistently underperforming, then yeah, I'd be worried. But honestly, I think you're spiraling. Focus on your work and stop reading so much into management buzzwords. You'll drive yourself crazy otherwise.
