Anyone else feeling the chill at Goldman Sachs? Layoff talk is everywhere.

Just trying to gauge the temperature here. Been hearing a lot of chatter recently about potential job cuts at GS. It feels like more than just the usual end-of-year cleanup. People are nervous, and the vibe in the office isn't exactly optimistic. I've seen some of the posts online referencing India and other numbers, but on the ground here, it's mostly whispers and speculation. Anyone in other divisions or locations experiencing something similar? Is management dropping any hints, even subtle ones? Trying to stay focused but it's hard when you feel like your job security is up in the air. Any insights or unconfirmed info would be appreciated.

Yeah, the whispers are definitely getting louder. It's hard not to feel it, even if you're not directly in the firing line. The uncertainty is the worst part, makes it tough to plan or focus. Seeing the numbers bandied about online doesn't help the general mood either. Trying to stay positive and keep my head down, but it's definitely a tense atmosphere across the board right now. Hope it doesn't get too bad.

I'm hearing similar things from colleagues in different teams. The 'usual' year-end adjustments feel different this time around, more pronounced and frankly, more worrying. Management's silence on the matter, beyond vague platitudes, only fuels the speculation. It's creating a lot of anxiety, and you can feel the shift in energy. People are updating resumes and networking more actively than I've seen in years. Definitely a palpable chill.
