Definitely feels like a lot of noise. Budget season and market uncertainty always bring out the rumor mill, especially for a firm like Goldman. I've seen similar patterns before where numbers get thrown around and then it turns out to be more about reallocating resources or performance management in specific areas rather than mass exodus. Unless you have friends in HR or senior leadership, it's probably best to take these numbers with a huge grain of salt. The media loves a good layoff story, and GS is always a juicy target. Probably a mix of standard attrition and some targeted trimming here and there, not the apocalypse some are making it out to be.
