GS India Layoffs: Are they really happening or just noise?

Scrolling through HN and other sites, and the "news" about GS India layoffs is everywhere. Some posts claim hundreds, others thousands, and some even say it's happening "secretly." It's getting hard to tell what's real and what's just rumor mill churn. Has anyone on here actually seen or heard anything concrete from their teams or managers within GS India? Are people being put on PIPs, or is it outright terminations? Is it specific divisions or a broad sweep? Trying to get a sense of the ground truth, as the online chatter is getting pretty loud and conflicting. Honestly, the lack of any official communication is making people anxious. If something is happening, it's better to just be upfront about it. Anyone have insights directly from the source?

It's always tough when these rumors start swirling. I've seen similar speculation during past downturns. Without official confirmation or firsthand accounts from people directly affected, it's hard to know the scale of it. Companies sometimes make strategic adjustments, and without clarity, the rumor mill can really run wild. Hoping those impacted can find new opportunities quickly.

I've been keeping an eye on this too. The sheer volume of chatter across different platforms suggests there's *something* going on, even if the exact details are fuzzy. It's plausible that even if it's not widespread firings, there could be performance management initiatives or hiring freezes impacting certain roles. It’s a complex market out there, and firms often react to global economic signals.
