Internal transfer opportunities dried up suddenly.

Been trying to move internally at GS for about 6 months now. Had a few promising chats and applications in the pipeline, especially for roles in [Another Division Name]. Now, radio silence. Recruiters aren't responding, hiring managers aren't getting back. It's like the internal mobility program just... stopped. This is way different from previous years where you could always find a stepping stone. My current team is okay, but I was really looking forward to a change. This feels like a bad omen. My performance review was solid, so it's not that. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed internal moves becoming impossible, or if this is a sign of bigger things to come. Feels like they're holding onto headcount very tightly, maybe in preparation for something. Curious to hear if anyone else is experiencing this internal job search struggle.

Yeah, I've been hearing the same buzz across a few desks. Seems like the internal pipeline has definitely tightened up. It's frustrating when you're ready for that next step and the doors just seem to close without much explanation. Hopefully, it's just a temporary freeze and things will pick up again soon. It's tough when you're stuck wanting a change but can't seem to make it happen.

Totally feel this. The internal market at GS used to be so active, you could practically see opportunities popping up weekly. Now, it's like crickets. I was trying to pivot into a tech role a few months back and hit a wall. Feels like they're either prioritizing external hires or just really consolidating headcount. Definitely makes you reconsider future career paths within the firm when the built-in mobility seems to vanish.
