Wondering about potential impacts on bonus payouts this year

With all the noise about cost-cutting and potential headcount reductions (even if unofficial) at GS, I'm getting a bit nervous about the bonus pool this year. Anyone have any thoughts on how this might play out? Usually, performance is the main driver, but I feel like macro conditions and firm-wide profitability are going to be under a microscope more than ever. If the firm is really looking to conserve cash, I can't imagine bonuses will be looking too pretty. Trying to set realistic expectations for myself and my family. Anyone else in similar roles seeing this pressure or have insights into how bonuses might be affected?

Totally feel your concern. The sentiment in the market is definitely leaning towards caution, and that often trickles down to compensation. While performance reviews are always key, the broader economic climate and the firm's bottom line are impossible to ignore this year. Expecting a more conservative bonus season seems like a reasonable bet, and it’s smart to manage expectations now. Let's hope for the best but prepare for a potentially leaner payout.
