Anyone else feeling the pre-layoff jitters?

I've been at Google for 7 years, in Ads, and lately things just feel...off. My manager keeps saying everything is fine, but there's been a noticeable slowdown in projects and a lot more 'strategic planning' meetings. Remember how quiet things got before the last round? This feels similar. I'm not sure if it's just my anxiety kicking in, but I've started quietly updating my resume and networking just in case. Am I crazy, or is anyone else sensing something?

Not crazy at all. Been at Google Cloud for 5 years and I feel the same vibe. Endless meetings about 'synergy' and 'alignment' but zero actual work getting done. Performance reviews were unusually vague too. Started dusting off the LinkedIn profile myself. Better to be prepared, even if it's nothing.

Honestly, this happens every year around this time. Budgets get reallocated, projects shift, and everyone panics. 7 years is a long time, you've probably seen this cycle before. Focus on what you can control - delivering on your current projects and staying positive. Let the managers worry about the 'strategic planning'. Good luck!
