Did anyone see the trickle-down effect impacting non-tech roles?

Hearing a lot about the engineering side getting hit, which is expected. But has anyone on the HR, recruiting, marketing, or legal teams felt the pinch from the recent cuts? My team in [redacted department, e.g., Legal Operations] has been eerily quiet, and I'm wondering if more people were let go in non-engineering functions than we're hearing about. It feels like the ripple effect is starting, and honestly, it's making everyone super anxious. We were told 'essential functions' were safe, but 'essential' seems to be a moving target lately. Anyone else in a support function seeing shifts or hearing whispers?

I'm in marketing, and yeah, things have definitely slowed down. We've had to be way more strategic with our budgets and fewer new initiatives are being approved. It's not outright layoffs on my team yet, but there's a noticeable tightening of the belt. I think 'essential' is being redefined quite strictly, and it's causing a lot of uncertainty. Trying to stay positive and focus on delivering high impact, but it's tough when the overall vibe is so anxious.

Honestly, I haven't seen much impact on my non-engineering team. We're still busy with our core responsibilities. Maybe it's department-dependent? Or perhaps the 'pinch' you're feeling is more about reallocation of resources or a shift in priorities rather than direct cuts to your function. It's easy to get caught up in the rumor mill, but try to focus on what's happening directly within your team's purview. Direct communication from leadership is key, even if it's not always reassuring.
