Severance package best practices? Hypothetically, of course.

Okay, this is purely hypothetical, and I want to preface this by saying I haven't heard anything concrete about layoffs at Hershey. But, as with any large company, you hear the rumblings and it's always good to be prepared, right? For those who've been through this at other CPG companies, what's a typical severance package look like? Thinking about weeks per year of service, health benefits continuation, outplacement services. My role is in supply chain, been here for 8 years. Just trying to get a sense of what's standard so if the worst were to happen, I'd know if Hershey was being reasonable. Any advice on negotiating if it comes to that?

Hey there, I totally get the need to be prepared, even if it's just hypothetical. It's smart thinking. For what it's worth, at my last CPG gig, severance was pretty standard: two weeks per year of service, plus two months of COBRA subsidy. Outplacement was offered but felt a bit generic, honestly. Supply chain roles often have decent packages though, so hopefully, if anything happens, you'll be well taken care of. Good luck with the 'hypothetical' planning!

Honestly, I'd take these 'rumblings' with a grain of salt. Companies always have 'rumblings.' Focus on your performance and don't let hypothetical scenarios distract you too much. If layoffs *do* happen, then you can look into specifics. Until then, it's just speculation. Just my two cents, but worrying about what *might* happen can be a drain.
