Hess - Navigating the Merger Uncertainty

With the Chevron deal still in limbo and the volatility in the energy sector, I'm finding it hard to focus on day-to-day tasks. My team's been doing great work, hitting our targets, but there's this underlying feeling of 'what's the point if our roles might disappear or change drastically?' I've seen some smaller teams get consolidated already, and while it wasn't framed as layoffs, people definitely moved around. It makes you wonder if more significant changes are on the horizon once the dust settles, or even before. Is anyone else feeling this way? How are you managing the stress and maintaining productivity when the future feels so uncertain? Any advice on how to approach managers about concerns without sounding alarmist?

It's completely understandable to feel that way. That kind of uncertainty hangs heavy over everyone, even when day-to-day performance is strong. It's tough to stay motivated when the future of your role feels so unstable. Seeing other teams restructured, even without explicit layoffs, definitely raises flags. Hopefully, there will be more clarity soon, but until then, just focus on delivering the excellent work your team is known for. That's always the best defense, regardless of what happens next.
