Anyone else in Hardware feeling the crunch?

Been at HP for a few years now, primarily in the hardware engineering side. Lately, the vibe has been… off. Project timelines are getting tighter, resources seem scarcer, and there's this undercurrent of 'efficiency drives' happening. We're not getting direct comms about layoffs, but the whispers are getting louder. Heard some chatter about consolidation in certain product lines and a focus on software/services moving forward. It feels like a shift is coming, and I'm worried it'll involve headcount reductions. Anyone else in a similar boat, maybe in R&D or manufacturing, seeing or hearing things that make you nervous?

I hear you. It's been noticeable on my team too. Deadlines feel almost impossible sometimes, and there's definitely a sense of looking for ways to 'optimize' everywhere. The lack of clear communication about what's actually going on makes it worse, leaves a lot of room for speculation. Hoping for the best but bracing for whatever might be next.

Yeah, the buzz about shifts is definitely around. I've seen some teams get restructured already, and product roadmaps seem to be changing more frequently than usual. It feels like the company is trying to pivot, and sometimes those transitions are bumpy for the folks on the ground. Definitely keeping an eye on things myself.
