Has anyone seen an uptick in 'restructuring' meetings recently?

I’ve been at HP for over six years now, and the atmosphere in our department has shifted dramatically in the last two months. Suddenly, management is obsessed with 'operational efficiency' and 'AI-readiness,' which is corporate speak for cutting costs. My manager keeps scheduling these vague syncs about shifting priorities, but nobody is actually explaining what the target is. I’m noticing a lot of backchannel chatter on Slack regarding headcount stability, but it’s mostly just anxiety fueling rumors. Has anyone else noticed their team lead being cagey lately? I’m starting to wonder if the rumors of further staff reductions are actually gaining traction behind the scenes, despite what HR keeps telling us in those all-hands town halls. I’m already refreshing my resume just in case, but I’d love to know if this is just my specific org or a company-wide push to trim the fat before the end of the fiscal year.

Same situation here. I have been through three rounds of these 'restructuring' phases in the last decade, and it always follows the exact same script. First come the buzzwords about efficiency, then the vague calendar invites, and finally the sudden departure of long-term team members. It is exhausting to watch the internal culture erode like this. Just keep your resume updated and your head down while you wait for the dust to settle, because transparency is clearly not on the agenda for this quarter.

I honestly think leadership is just throwing darts at a board at this point. Every time they mention 'strategic alignment,' I start bracing for the worst. It’s impossible to get any actual work done when you are constantly wondering if your specific role is still on the roadmap. Don't waste your energy looking for honest answers in those sync meetings; they are just going to repeat the same rehearsed lines until the layoff announcements actually hit the company-wide emails.
