Interviewed for an internal role, how to prep for the inevitable?

Recently applied for an internal move to a different business unit within HP. The interview went surprisingly well, and they seemed really positive about my background (I'm in Product Marketing, been here 4 years). However, given the general atmosphere, I can't shake the feeling that this role might just be a temporary stopgap or even a way to re-align headcount before potential cuts. Is anyone else in this boat, interviewing internally or externally, and trying to position themselves strategically? What questions are you asking about team stability or future roadmaps? Any tips on how to probe for underlying risks without sounding paranoid?

Hey, congrats on the interview going well! It's totally understandable to feel a bit anxious, especially with the current climate. My advice? Focus on what you can control. Make sure you've got a solid understanding of that new BU's goals and how your skills directly map to them. Highlight your successes in Product Marketing and how they translate. Don't be afraid to ask clarifying questions about the role's long-term vision during the next steps. Good luck!

Been there. Internal moves can be a double-edged sword at HP right now. While it's great they liked you, that 'stopgap' feeling is real. Maybe frame your prep not just around getting *this* job, but positioning yourself for whatever comes next. Show them you're adaptable and a problem-solver, regardless of the specific role. Think about how your experience could benefit them *even if* things shift. Just my two cents.
