Anyone else feeling the chill? Been hearing whispers around my team.

Hey everyone, been lurking here for a while but decided to post. I'm in a mid-level engineering role, been with IBM for about 7 years now. Lately, the vibe in my department has been... off. My manager has been really cagey about future projects and there's been a noticeable increase in 'reorganizations' being mentioned in all-hands meetings. Honestly, it feels like a lot of the usual buzzwords are being used to mask something bigger. Saw a couple of people from my floor packing up their stuff last week, but no official word from HR or anything concrete. Just wondering if anyone else in similar roles or departments are picking up on the same signals. Is it just my imagination, or is something brewing?

Yeah, I'm hearing similar things on my end, though I'm in a different division. It's tough when leadership gets vague. My advice, based on past experiences at other big tech companies, is to start updating that resume and networking quietly. It's better to be prepared than blindsided. Don't panic, but don't ignore the signs either. Focus on delivering solid work for now, but keep your eyes and ears open.

Hold on a second, 'whispers' and 'cagey' can mean a lot of things. IBM has been through cycles of restructuring before, it's a massive company. Could just be a new strategic shift that hasn't been fully communicated yet. Maybe focus on what you *can* control: your performance, learning new skills. Unless you're seeing concrete evidence like mass layoffs, it might be overthinking it. Let's see how the next quarter plays out.
