Automation vs. Jobs: Is IBM's AI ready?

Seeing a lot of discussion online, and frankly, it's making me nervous. There are articles claiming IBM is pushing automation and AI to replace staff, but then others saying the AI isn't even up to the task yet. It feels like a classic case of wanting to cut costs *now* before the tech is truly ready to handle the workload. Has anyone in operations or development seen this firsthand? Are teams being downsized with the expectation that existing staff will pick up the slack, or are they genuinely trying to automate processes that are currently manual? Seems like a risky strategy, especially with recent layoff news. Curious to hear from people on the ground if this is more than just corporate speak.

It's a valid concern. The narrative around tech adoption often gets ahead of the actual implementation. Companies might be investing in these tools with the *hope* of future efficiency, but the immediate impact on roles is usually a slow burn rather than a sudden overhaul. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has recent, direct experience with how these initiatives are affecting day-to-day operations and team structures within IBM.
