What's really going on with the 'automation' push?

0x317a…a7a2I keep seeing these articles and hearing about how IBM is pushing for more automation, with some even suggesting it's to replace people. It feels a bit disconnected from what I'm seeing on the ground. We're implementing new tools, sure, but it often feels like they create *more* work or require more specialized skills than they replace. Some of the systems seem clunky and not quite ready for prime time, ironically. Is anyone else experiencing this disconnect? Are these tools actually reducing headcount elsewhere, or is it just a narrative? Trying to understand the long-term implications for our roles. Feels like we're being told one thing while the reality might be another. Curious if anyone has been tasked with deploying these 'people-replacing' systems and what their actual experience has been. Seems like a risky bet if the tech isn't fully baked.
