Hearing whispers about restructuring in my org - am I crazy?

Anyone else feeling uneasy? I'm in the validation team under the CPU group, and lately, things have been weird. My manager has been in back-to-back meetings, and there's this general sense of anxiety hanging in the air. I overheard snippets of conversations about 'resource optimization' and 'streamlining processes' near the coffee machine. I've been through a couple of these before in my 8 years here, and this feels familiar. Am I just being paranoid, or is anyone else getting a similar vibe? It's always the uncertainty that gets to me the most. Should I start dusting off my resume, or am I jumping the gun?

Not paranoid at all. The vague language is classic pre-restructuring. Been there, felt that. My advice? Update your resume, polish your LinkedIn, and start networking internally and externally. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. Knowing your market value will give you leverage no matter what happens. Good luck.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions just yet. 'Resource optimization' and 'streamlining' are just buzzwords management loves to throw around. Could be something, could be nothing. Maybe they're just trying to improve efficiency? I remember a similar scare last year that ended up being a shift in project focus, not layoffs. Don't let the rumors get to you until something concrete happens.
