I’m honestly at a loss for words. We just watched another wave of talented folks get their access cut this morning. The official comms are pushing this narrative about 'strategic realignment' and 'future-proofing,' but it feels like we’re just thinning the herd to make the balance sheet look pretty for the next quarterly call. I’ve been here for a few years, and the culture shift has been jarring. We used to actually care about the user experience, but now it feels like every decision is purely reactive to stock price fluctuations. The Slack channels are silent, the managers are acting like they have no idea what’s coming next, and the general consensus is that no one’s job is truly safe. If you’re still here, are you actually planning to ride this out, or is everyone just waiting for their final vesting date before jumping ship? I’m finding it impossible to focus on my sprint tasks when I’m constantly looking over my shoulder wondering if my project is next on the chopping block.

It is getting harder to ignore the reality of these layoffs. When they start cutting the people who actually built the core functionality, you know the focus has shifted entirely toward short-term stock performance. I’ve seen this playbook before at other firms, and it never ends with a better product for the customers. It’s just cost-cutting disguised as innovation, and unfortunately, the folks left behind are just going to be burnt out trying to cover the gap left by their departed colleagues.

I'm sorry you're going through this. The 'strategic realignment' line is standard corporate speak used to soften the blow, but it doesn't make the loss of institutional knowledge any less painful. Intuit has been drifting away from its roots for a while now, favoring aggressive margin expansion over genuine user value. Take care of yourself during this transition, keep your network close, and don't feel obligated to give extra effort to a company that clearly treats its human capital as a disposable line item.
