Rant: Watched my whole team get canned

I'm so freaking angry right now. Sat through the Zoom call last week and watched half my team get laid off – some of the most talented people I know. I'm talking people who've been here for over a decade, dedicated, hard-working. And for what? Because some suit decided it was time to 'restructure'? I'm still employed, and I feel guilty as hell. Like I should have done something, anything, to stop it. My manager looked like he was about to cry. The VP giving the speech was just spouting corporate jargon. I hate this place. I hate this feeling. I'm updating my resume tonight.

That sucks, man. I've been there, watching good people get the axe. It's hard not to feel like you should have done *something*, but honestly, what could you have done? These decisions are usually made way above your pay grade. Just focus on supporting your former teammates now, help them find new jobs, and maybe start polishing up your own resume, just in case.

Restructuring is code for boosting the stock price, plain and simple. Loyalty means nothing to these corporations. The people who stayed will be doing the jobs of those who left. Sure, they'll tout 'efficiency gains,' but it's all smoke and mirrors. I bet your manager is looking for a new job too, which is smart. Been through this cycle multiple times; start looking, even if you don't *want* to leave.
