Anyone else feeling the jitters at J&J after the NJ layoffs?

So, 183 people out in NJ as of May 28th. That's not a small number. I'm not in NJ myself, but it's hard not to get a bit anxious when you see news like this. Makes you wonder if it's a sign of things to come elsewhere or if it's specific to that region/operation. Has anyone heard any whispers internally about the reasons behind these cuts? Is it performance, cost-saving, or something else entirely? I'm just trying to process this and figure out if I should be worried about my own position or team down the line. Just looking for some open discussion and shared experiences, not to spread panic, but to understand the situation better. Anyone willing to share their thoughts or what they're hearing?

It's definitely unsettling to hear about significant layoffs, even if you're not directly impacted. That many people losing their jobs can create a ripple effect of anxiety throughout the company. I haven't heard any specific internal reasons, but in this economic climate, cost-cutting measures are always a possibility. It's understandable to want clarity, but often that information isn't shared widely until much later, if at all. Staying informed and focused on your own contributions is probably the best approach right now.

Yeah, that's a tough pill to swallow for those affected in NJ. It's natural to feel a bit on edge when you see those kinds of numbers. Without official statements, speculation runs wild, and it's hard to know what's really going on. Could be a targeted restructuring, or maybe a broader efficiency drive. Focusing on what you can control – your performance and your network – is probably the most productive way to navigate these uncertain times. Hoping for the best for everyone involved.
