J&J Culture Post-Layoffs

With the recent news of layoffs hitting J&J in NJ, I'm curious about the current employee sentiment. For those still there, how is the atmosphere? Are people worried about their own jobs, or has the company managed to reassure the remaining workforce? I've heard mixed things about J&J's culture over the years – sometimes portrayed as very stable and employee-focused, other times facing criticism. Layoffs, especially recurring ones, can really impact morale and trust. How is management handling communication? Are there increased workloads for those who remain? Just trying to gauge the general vibe and how people are feeling about their future at the company. Any honest perspectives would be appreciated.

J&J NJ Layoffs - What's the real story?

Just saw the news about another 183 folks let go at J&J, specifically impacting NJ. This feels like a recurring theme lately. Anyone directly affected or hearing whispers about what teams/departments are being hit? Is this a strategic realignment, cost-cutting, or something else entirely? It's hard to get a clear picture from the outside. I've seen J&J make significant cuts before, but it always feels unsettling when it's happening again. Wondering if this is a sign of broader instability or just a normal business cycle for a company this size. Trying to understand the 'why' behind it all, beyond the generic 'restructuring' language often used. Anyone have insights into the long-term implications for employees there?

Feeling lost after being laid off - What are the next steps?

Well, it finally happened. I was part of the recent J&J layoffs in NJ. Spent 7 years in Global Supply Chain, and now I'm suddenly out of a job. The notification itself was brief, and honestly, I’m still in shock. My main concern right now is just figuring out where to start. I’ve never been through this before. Should I be updating my LinkedIn immediately? Reaching out to recruiters? Focusing on the severance first? It feels like a mountain to climb. Any advice from people who've been through this at J&J or similar large pharma companies would be amazing. I want to be proactive but also don't want to make any rookie mistakes. Just feeling really adrift and could use some direction. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Severance Package - Any insights from previous J&J layoffs?

Hey everyone, I was impacted by the recent cuts. Trying to get a handle on what a typical severance package looks like at J&J, especially for those of us who've been here a while. I was in a senior role in the pharma division in NJ, and I've been with the company for almost 10 years. Does J&J usually offer extended health benefits beyond the standard 60/90 days? What about outplacement services? Any tips on negotiating if the initial offer seems low? It’s all a bit overwhelming right now, and knowing what others have experienced in past layoff cycles would be super helpful. Just trying to prepare myself for the discussions with HR. Any info, even anecdotal, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Advice for navigating the internal job market now?

So, I was part of the recent J&J layoffs (Medical Devices, NJ site) and I'm trying to stay within the company if possible. My role was eliminated, but I'm hoping to leverage my 5 years of experience here to find something new internally before looking externally. Has anyone successfully transitioned internally after their role was cut? What's the best strategy? Should I be reaching out to hiring managers directly, or going through HR? Any tips on how to frame my situation positively without sounding desperate? Feeling a bit lost on the best approach.

Was anyone else blindsided by the cuts in R&D?

Seriously, I'm still reeling. I'm in a research role at the Raritan campus, been here for 7 years, and we heard absolutely nothing. The department wasn't even on my radar for cuts. We're working on some pretty crucial long-term projects. Now everything's up in the air. My whole team is gone, and I'm left trying to pick up the pieces of projects that are now suddenly ownerless. The communication has been nonexistent since the announcement. Just crickets. Anyone else in a similar boat? What's the official story? Because internally, it feels like a total vacuum.

Rant: So tired of the constant uncertainty

Honestly, I'm so over this. Every few years, there's some kind of 'transformation' or 'reorganization' that leaves everyone on edge. I'm in supply chain, been here for 5 years, and I'm just so drained. It feels like we're constantly being asked to do more with less, while the executives rake in millions. I'm tired of the empty platitudes about 'valuing our employees' when the reality is that we're just numbers on a spreadsheet. If they're going to cut people, just do it already. The constant anxiety is worse than the actual layoffs. Rant over.

Severance package expectations?

Been at J&J for 12 years, in R&D. If there ARE layoffs, what's the typical severance package looking like these days? Is it based on tenure? Do they offer outplacement services? Trying to mentally prepare, because my department has been underperforming for the past few quarters. Also, does anyone know if they are generous with unused PTO payout?

Heard whispers about restructuring... anyone else?

I'm in marketing for one of the consumer health brands and I've been hearing some rumblings about a potential restructuring. Nothing concrete, just the usual vague talk about 'efficiency' and 'aligning resources.' Anyone else hearing similar things in their departments? I've been with J&J for 8 years, and I've seen restructurings before, but this feels different. More… ominous? Just trying to gauge if it's just paranoia or something real.

Anyone else absolutely dreading Monday mornings lately?

Seriously, what is with the atmosphere around here? I work in the Consumer Health division, and the tension is thicker than ever. Every Monday feels like I'm walking into a firing squad. The constant pressure to perform, the endless meetings that accomplish nothing, and the feeling that everyone is just waiting for the other shoe to drop... it's exhausting. Our team used to be so collaborative, but now everyone is just focused on protecting their own turf. I've been actively applying to other jobs for months now, but the market is tough. I just needed to vent. Anyone else feeling the same way? Or am I just being paranoid?

Laid off from Ethicon after 12 years - severance package questions

Well, it finally happened. Got the call this morning. I'm out after 12 years with Ethicon. I was a Senior Marketing Manager, and honestly, I'm still in shock. HR walked me through the severance package, and it seems pretty standard – two weeks for every year of service, plus outplacement services. However, I'm a little confused about the stock options and how they vest after termination. Does anyone have experience with J&J's stock option plan after a layoff? Also, are there any resources or benefits I should be aware of that they might not have mentioned? Any advice on negotiating the package? I'm feeling lost right now, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heard whispers about restructuring in Medical Devices... anyone else?

Okay, so I've been hearing some rumblings about a possible restructuring in the Medical Devices sector. Specifically, people are mentioning the DePuy Synthes division. I'm in R&D, been with J&J for 7 years, and things have been... weird lately. Meetings getting cancelled last minute, upper management being super vague about future projects, the usual signs. Has anyone else heard anything similar? I'm not trying to spread rumors, just trying to get a feel for whether I should be updating my resume. It's always the same - you get blind-sided when you expect it least. Any insight would be appreciated. Trying not to panic, but... you know.
