J&J NJ Layoffs - What's the real story?

Just saw the news about another 183 folks let go at J&J, specifically impacting NJ. This feels like a recurring theme lately. Anyone directly affected or hearing whispers about what teams/departments are being hit? Is this a strategic realignment, cost-cutting, or something else entirely? It's hard to get a clear picture from the outside. I've seen J&J make significant cuts before, but it always feels unsettling when it's happening again. Wondering if this is a sign of broader instability or just a normal business cycle for a company this size. Trying to understand the 'why' behind it all, beyond the generic 'restructuring' language often used. Anyone have insights into the long-term implications for employees there?

It's really tough to see such numbers, especially when it feels like a pattern. My cousin works in pharma supply chain and said there's been a lot of consolidation talk across the board, not just J&J. Rumor is they're pushing more towards specific therapeutic areas and shedding others that aren't performing as well or require massive R&D investment. Doesn't make it easier for those affected, of course, but it might be more than just random cuts.
