Anyone else feeling the UnitedHealth tremors?

Been seeing a lot of chatter lately, and then the news confirmed another 86 layoffs in Arkansas on May 28th. It’s concerning. Even if these specific numbers aren't huge on their own, the frequency is what gets me. It makes you wonder about the overall health of the company, or at least certain sectors within it. The previous whispers about larger numbers from other sources haven't materialized as broadly, but these consistent smaller cuts are still unsettling. Are teams feeling pressure? Are projects being shelved? Trying to get a pulse on the broader sentiment beyond just the raw layoff numbers. Anyone else picking up on similar vibes or have insights into what's driving this steady trickle?

Arkansas layoffs hit 86 employees

Just saw the news about another round of layoffs at UnitedHealth, this time impacting 86 employees in Arkansas. The date mentioned is May 28th. This is getting to be a regular occurrence, isn't it? Feels like we're constantly bracing for the next wave. I'm not directly affected by this specific cut, but it's hard not to feel uneasy. Anyone else in Arkansas or familiar with that region seeing more of this? Curious if there's a specific division or reason behind this latest wave beyond the general 'restructuring' talk. Keep your heads up everyone, hope you're all doing okay.

Should I even bother applying internally?

With all this churn, I'm starting to think about looking elsewhere. But I know UNH does internal mobility. Has anyone successfully moved teams or departments *after* a layoff round like this? Or is it a black hole where you just get overlooked? I've been in my current role for 3 years and feel like I'm hitting a ceiling anyway, but the thought of competing with laid-off folks for internal roles is daunting. Any tips on how to navigate this? Should I reach out to recruiters directly?

Arkansas office cuts - what's the real story?

Just saw the news about the 86 people let go in Arkansas. I work in a different state but this is really unsettling. My team hasn't heard anything concrete, but the general vibe is tense. Anyone on the ground in AR who can shed some light? Was it specific departments or a broad sweep? Feels like no one is safe right now. My manager is being cagey when I ask about stability. Trying to figure out if I should start polishing the resume proactively.

Rant: Absolutely done with this company!

Seriously, I'm so over this place. I've been busting my butt for the last 5 years, putting in crazy hours, and what do I get? Radio silence. My manager doesn't even acknowledge my accomplishments. Meanwhile, people who barely do anything get promoted left and right. And the bureaucracy is insane! It takes weeks to get anything approved. I saw on the layoff site (you know the one) that a few people got the axe recently. Honestly, at this point, I'm hoping I'm next. I'd gladly take a severance package and find a company that actually values its employees. This place is a soul-sucking black hole. Anyone else feel the same?

Severance package - what to expect?

Hypothetically speaking, what's the standard severance package at UnitedHealth Group? I'm trying to get a feel for what I might be looking at if the rumors are true. I've heard everything from two weeks per year of service to a flat three months. Does it depend on your role or level? I'm a Director, so I'm assuming it's different than for lower-level employees. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. And yes, I know it's a sensitive topic, but I'd rather be prepared than caught off guard. Any experiences (past or present) would be helpful.

Heard whispers of restructuring in my dept - anyone else?

Okay, so I've been with Optum for almost 8 years now, and I've seen a few things, but this feels different. I'm a Senior Data Analyst in the risk adjustment area, and the vibes have been super weird lately. My manager has been in back-to-back meetings all week, and when I asked about a project deadline, she was totally vague and just said "we'll see." Usually, she's all over the details. Anyone else experiencing weirdness in their department? Trying to figure out if I should be updating my resume or if I'm just paranoid. I'm vested in my 401k but the job market seems rough right now.

This is BS. Years of loyalty and for what?

Honestly, I'm fuming. Been busting my butt in claims processing for over 10 years, always exceeding targets, never a complaint. And now I'm hearing that my department might be 'streamlined' and roles are being moved overseas? Seriously? How is that rewarding hard work and dedication? It's not like we're overpaid, and now I'm supposed to compete with people making a fraction of my salary? I'm beyond stressed. I've got a family to support, a mortgage to pay. This company talks about 'values' and 'people first,' but when it comes down to it, it's all about the bottom line. I feel so betrayed and disposable.

Severance package questions - what's standard?

Okay, so I'm not directly affected *yet*, but seeing some rumblings makes me want to be prepared. If UnitedHealth *does* do layoffs, what's the typical severance package looking like? I'm talking weeks of pay per year of service, benefits continuation, outplacement services, etc. Does it vary much depending on your role/level? I've heard horror stories of companies offering the bare minimum, and I'd like to know what to expect, or if it's worth it to start quietly talking to recruiters *now* just in case. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone else hearing whispers of restructuring in the tech org?

I've been at Optum for almost 7 years now, mostly doing backend engineering. Things have been... weird lately. Lots of closed-door meetings with the VPs, projects being put on hold with little explanation, and a general sense of unease in my team. My manager keeps saying everything is fine, but she also seems stressed to the max. Anyone else experiencing similar vibes? I'm not sure if it's just paranoia, but I'm starting to think a reorg might be coming, which usually means some people are gonna get the axe. Trying not to freak out, but the silence from leadership is deafening.
