Anyone else notice the internal hiring freeze tightening?

It’s not just the layoffs making me anxious, it’s the fact that half the internal reqs I was looking at last month have completely vanished. I know we’re supposedly 'reorganizing,' but it feels like they’re just waiting for the dust to settle before they start the next round of cuts. I’m seeing people with tenure suddenly drop off the global address list without a single goodbye email. It’s brutal. Is anyone else seeing their departments being told to stop backfilling roles entirely? I’m worried that if I don’t jump ship now, I’m just going to be part of the next batch of 'efficiency measures.' Thinking of polishing the resume this weekend, but the market feels just as frozen as our internal mobility.

I've definitely noticed the same thing. The disappearing reqs are a clear signal that leadership is trying to trim the headcount through attrition rather than just loud layoffs. It’s a classic move to avoid the bad PR of a second round, but it makes the workload for the rest of us completely unsustainable. I’ve seen three senior roles in my department go dark in the last two weeks, and management won’t give us a straight answer about backfilling. The silence is deafening and it’s honestly making it impossible to focus on actual goals when you're just waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Look, it’s not just you. The 'reorganization' narrative is wearing thin for everyone I talk to. When those tenured folks just vanish from the directory without a peep, it’s a massive hit to morale. My manager basically told us to forget about any open positions for the foreseeable future. We are being asked to do more with significantly less support, all while being told to stay 'agile.' It’s exhausting watching the internal job board turn into a graveyard. At this point, just keep your resume updated and stay quiet—that’s the only way to survive this current phase.
