Was anyone else blindsided by the cuts in R&D?

Seriously, I'm still reeling. I'm in a research role at the Raritan campus, been here for 7 years, and we heard absolutely nothing. The department wasn't even on my radar for cuts. We're working on some pretty crucial long-term projects. Now everything's up in the air. My whole team is gone, and I'm left trying to pick up the pieces of projects that are now suddenly ownerless. The communication has been nonexistent since the announcement. Just crickets. Anyone else in a similar boat? What's the official story? Because internally, it feels like a total vacuum.

This is incredibly disheartening to hear. As someone who's also been with J&J for a good chunk of time, the lack of transparency is what gets me. It feels like our contributions are being devalued. I can only imagine the shock and frustration of having your team dismantled and your projects left in limbo. Hopefully, some clarity comes soon, though I'm not holding my breath given the silence you're experiencing. Sending solidarity.

It's always tough when these kinds of decisions hit close to home, especially when you feel blindsided. My experience with company-wide shifts like this is that sometimes the communication breakdown happens *before* the official announcement, leaving those at the ground level completely out of the loop. It sounds like a really tough situation with your team and projects. Have you considered reaching out to any of the remaining leadership directly, even if it's just for an explanation of next steps for your specific work?
