Feeling the pressure in R&D lately...

Anyone else in the R&D space at K-C feeling a bit… uneasy? Been here 7 years, worked on a few different product lines, and the vibe has definitely shifted in the last quarter. Less investment in new projects, more focus on cost-cutting. My direct manager is tight-lipped, but you can tell something's brewing. Heard whispers about restructuring from a friend on the marketing side too. Just trying to stay focused on my current deliverables, but it's hard not to worry about what might be coming down the pipe. Are we all just waiting for the other shoe to drop?

Yeah, I've felt that shift too. It's unsettling when the focus seems to move away from innovation towards just tightening the belt. It's tough to stay motivated on projects when you suspect they might be on the chopping block or deprioritized. I'm trying to document everything I'm working on thoroughly, just in case. My gut feeling is that there's a broader strategy change happening, not just a short-term budget crunch. Hang in there, hopefully it's just a temporary adjustment.

Restructuring? That's not surprising given the current economic climate. Companies everywhere are looking for efficiencies. While it's natural to feel anxious, remember that R&D is often seen as a long-term investment. Maybe this is just a re-evaluation of priorities to ensure future growth. Focus on what you can control: delivering high-quality work on your current projects. If changes do happen, being seen as a reliable performer will always be an asset, no matter where you land.
