Columbia site atmosphere after the recent WARN notice

Has anyone actually heard anything concrete about who exactly got the notice in Columbia this week? The office feels like a morgue today. Management keeps sending out these 'business as usual' emails about the new fiscal initiatives, but everyone is just staring at their monitors waiting for the calendar invite from HR. It’s the same cycle every time—they squeeze us on RTO mandates and then trim the fat a few months later when the budget doesn't balance. I’m an L3 and it feels like the writing is on the wall for the mid-level engineering teams. If you’re in a support function or non-billable role, keep your LinkedIn updated. Don’t trust the 'no further cuts' line they fed us in the town hall; they said the same thing back in Q1. Good luck to everyone affected, this place is starting to feel like a revolving door.

It is honestly exhausting to watch the cycle repeat. Management talks about fiscal initiatives while we are all sitting here waiting for the axe to drop. The morale in Columbia has been circling the drain for months, and the RTO mandates just felt like a cruel way to keep us in the office while they sharpened the blades. If you haven't received a meeting invite yet, consider yourself lucky for the day, but definitely start updating your resume. This company treats tenure like a liability instead of an asset.

I understand the anxiety, but try not to let the silence get to you too much. In my experience with these corporate restructuring phases, the rumors always run wilder than the actual events. Keep your head down, do your job, and keep your options open just in case. Regardless of the outcome of this specific notice, you owe it to yourself to be ready for whatever comes next. Keep networking outside the firm and stay professional, even if the atmosphere is toxic right now.
