Is 'Efficiency' just code for more heads on the desk?

I’m honestly exhausted by the constant pivot toward 'streamlining' across our divisions. We’re losing headcount, but the project load hasn't dropped by a single percentage point. In fact, it feels like management expects us to do the work of three people now that the Sept 10th folks are gone. Are we honestly expected to hit these milestones with a skeleton crew? I’ve been looking at the internal portal and the hiring freeze seems to be in full effect, yet they keep pushing these ridiculous deadlines like nothing happened. If you’re at the MD site, how are you handling the increased workload? Personally, I’m done going above and beyond. I’ll do my 40, hit my deliverables, and log off. If they want to cut more people, they can explain the missed deadlines to the customer themselves. Tired of the corporate speak masking the fact that they are just burning us out to hit some arbitrary quarterly margin target.

Another round in Columbia—is the Maryland site on the chopping block?

Just saw the official WARN notice for the Sept 10th cuts. 31 people is a small number in the grand scheme of things, but it’s the third time I’ve seen this kind of 'targeted adjustment' in the last year. Every time leadership says we’re just optimizing for efficiency, but it feels like death by a thousand cuts. Is anyone else worried that the Columbia office is being slowly hollowed out? The atmosphere in the office has been absolutely toxic lately—everyone is keeping their heads down, nobody is talking at the coffee machine, and we’re all just waiting for the next calendar invite that shouldn’t be there. If you were part of this latest group, were there any warning signs or was it a total blindside? Just trying to gauge if I should be dusting off the resume tonight or if I’m safe for another quarter. This place used to feel like a career home, but lately, it just feels like a waiting room for the unemployment line.

Anyone else feeling the 'streamlining' squeeze?

It feels like we’re in a constant state of flux lately. With the recent news out of Columbia and the general vibe around the different sites, morale is hitting an all-time low. Are we seeing these 'efficiencies' manifest as more scope creep for those of us still here? I feel like I'm doing the work of two people, and every time I bring up resource constraints, I'm told to 'do more with less' because of budget alignments. It’s exhausting. Does anyone know if the leadership is actually planning a pivot or if we are just cutting heads to make the quarterly numbers look better for the shareholders? I’m genuinely curious if people are planning to jump ship before the next round of 'strategic adjustments' happens. This corporate culture is becoming impossible to navigate.

MD Columbia site cuts: Sept 10th confirmed

Just saw the WARN notice for the Columbia, MD office. 31 people getting the boot on September 10th. It’s always the same story—leadership talks about 'streamlining' and 'operational efficiency' while the rest of us are left wondering if we're next on the spreadsheet. Does anyone know if this is limited to a specific program or if it's across the board? I'm hearing whispers that more cuts are coming before the end of Q3, but management has been radio silent as usual. If you're in the MD area, stay alert. The severance packages have been getting tighter, so if you haven't started brushing up your resume, now is probably the time. Don't wait for an email invite to a 'mandatory all-hands' meeting to start looking.

L3Harris: Performance review cycle and rumors?

So, the annual performance review cycle is kicking into high gear here at L3Harris. Naturally, this always brings up conversations and sometimes anxieties about potential impacts, especially with the current defense climate. I've heard some whispers through the grapevine, nothing concrete, but enough to make me a bit uneasy. It seems like there's a bit more emphasis on 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' in some of the all-hands meetings lately. While that's standard corporate speak, combined with the timing of reviews, it does make me wonder if there might be some difficult decisions being made behind closed doors. Has anyone else picked up on anything similar or have any intel from their respective divisions? Trying to gauge if this is just the usual end-of-year jitters or something more substantial. Appreciate any shared experiences or observations.

L3Harris: Hiring freeze or just slow recruitment?

Hey everyone, I've been keeping an eye on openings at L3Harris across a few different departments (engineering focused) and it seems like things have really slowed down compared to a few months ago. I'm not seeing the same volume of requisitions being posted, and even the ones that are up seem to be sitting for a while. Makes me wonder if it's an unofficial hiring freeze, or maybe just a natural slowdown after some big project wins. Anyone else in a similar boat or in hiring/recruiting who might have some insight? Trying to get a sense of the overall hiring climate within the company right now. Just looking for data points, not trying to stir up drama or anything. My current team is stable, but always good to know what's going on in the broader org. Thanks for any info!

L3Harris: Layoff rumors picking up steam?

Heard some whispers through the grapevine, nothing concrete, but the chatter about potential layoffs at L3Harris seems to be getting louder. It’s mostly confined to online forums and hushed conversations by the coffee machine, so take it with a huge grain of salt. No official announcements or anything, but you can feel a certain tension. Management seems a bit more tight-lipped than usual, and there’s a general sense of unease. Is anyone else hearing similar things? Any HR folks lurking who can shed some light, even anonymously? Just trying to gauge the temperature. It's always stressful when these rumors start flying, especially in the defense sector where things can change quickly. Hoping it's just noise, but can't shake the feeling.

L3Harris: Anyone else noticing increased scrutiny on projects?

Been with L3Harris for a few years now, and it feels like the post-COVID era has brought a different vibe. My team, and a few others I've chatted with informally (off the record, obviously), seem to be under a microscope more than usual. Budgets are tight, and it feels like every expenditure, every project milestone, is being questioned at a higher level. It's not just me being stressed; it's a genuine shift in how things are being managed, from what I can tell. Anyone else seeing this? Is it a company-wide thing, or just our division? Trying to understand if this is a temporary belt-tightening or a sign of something more significant down the line. It’s making it hard to plan and even just feel secure in the day-to-day.

L3Harris: Performance reviews feel more critical lately

Is it just me, or have performance reviews at L3Harris become way more intense? Mine was recently, and the feedback felt significantly more pointed than in previous years. It wasn't necessarily negative, but the emphasis on 'optimization' and 'efficiency' was relentless. They brought up metrics I hadn't even focused on before and really drilled down into specific areas for 'improvement.' It felt less like a developmental conversation and more like a justification exercise. I'm wondering if this is a company-wide trend related to budget pressures or a precursor to something else. Has anyone else experienced this shift in their reviews? Trying to gauge if this is a standard part of the annual cycle now or if it's a sign of things to come. Makes you wonder where the focus is really going.

L3Harris: Morale dip or am I just stressed?

Hey everyone, throwing this out there to see if I'm alone. Lately, the vibe at L3Harris feels... different. It's not just me; I've overheard snippets of conversations and seen some concerned looks from colleagues across different departments. Project timelines seem to be getting tighter, and there's definitely a hushed tone when discussing future planning. It feels like there's an underlying current of uncertainty, though nothing concrete has been announced. Anyone else picking up on this? Are people seeing more 'reorganizations' or role consolidations? I'm trying to stay positive and focus on my work, but it's hard when you sense things might be shifting. Just looking for some shared experiences or maybe some insights if anyone has heard anything beyond the rumor mill. Curious to know if this is widespread or if it's just my corner of the company.

L3Harris: Rumors about acquisitions/divestitures?

Been seeing some chatter on here and LinkedIn about potential strategic shifts at L3Harris. Nothing concrete, of course, but the kind of vague 'future growth' talks that sometimes precede bigger changes. Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone has heard any credible (or even just consistent rumor mill) information about potential acquisitions or divestitures? Defense sector is always in flux, but with the current economic climate, I wouldn't be surprised if leadership is looking at options. It's unsettling not knowing what the long-term plan is, especially if it involves integrating or spinning off parts of the business. Does anyone have insights from their networking or conversations with management about what might be on the horizon? Trying to get ahead of any potential surprises.

L3Harris: Anyone else feeling the budget squeeze?

Hey everyone, been at L3Harris for a few years now, and things have felt... different lately. Not sure if it's just my division or company-wide, but the usual budget for projects and even some operational stuff seems tighter than ever. We're being asked to do more with less, and frankly, the justification for some of these cost-saving measures isn't always clear. Been hearing whispers about hiring freezes in certain departments too, though nothing official. Anyone else noticing this? Are your teams feeling the pinch? Trying to gauge if this is a localized issue or a broader trend. Doesn't feel like the best time to be asking for new resources or even raises, which is a bummer. Curious to hear what others are seeing on the ground.

L3Harris: Performance review season = anxiety season?

Okay, so performance review season is upon us again at L3Harris, and I'm already dreading it. The usual pressure is there, of course, but with all the talk of 'efficiency' and 'streamlining' floating around (even without official layoff news), I feel like the stakes are higher. My manager is being a bit vague about expectations, which isn't helping. I'm putting in the work, hitting my goals, but the general atmosphere feels like everyone's trying to prove their indispensable value. Has anyone else felt this amplified pressure during review cycles lately? Is it just me, or does it feel like we're all walking on eggshells trying to avoid becoming a number in some future 'optimization' push? Just looking for some commiseration or any tips on how to navigate this.

L3Harris: Anyone seeing weird project re-orgs lately?

Hey everyone, been with L3Harris for a few years now, and lately things feel a bit… unsettled. Not hearing direct layoff rumors or anything concrete, but I've noticed a lot of smaller project re-alignments and some team structures shifting more than usual. It's not like a massive shake-up, but more like constant tinkering. Anyone else in other divisions noticing this? Feels like they're trying to 'optimize' things behind the scenes. Just trying to gauge if this is a company-wide thing or if it's specific to my area. The uncertainty is a bit draining, honestly. Trying to stay focused but it's hard when you see resources being reallocated and priorities seemingly changing week to week. Wondering what the long-term strategy is here.

L3Harris: Morale taking a hit?

Lately, the general mood around the office feels a bit off. It's hard to pinpoint, but there's a definite sense of unease. Lots of hushed conversations, people looking over their shoulders a bit more. Performance reviews just wrapped up for many, and the feedback has been… varied. Some folks are happy, but I've heard from several others who are feeling pretty demotivated by their ratings, especially considering the current economic climate. It's making me wonder if there's more to it than just standard year-end feedback. With all the talk of market consolidation and economic headwinds affecting the defense sector, I can't help but feel like we might be heading towards some 'adjustments'. Anyone else sensing a dip in morale or experiencing similar feedback during reviews? Wondering if this is a company-wide trend or just isolated incidents.

L3Harris: Anyone else feeling the 'optimization' vibes?

Hey all, been seeing a lot of chatter on here about other defense contractors and wanted to see if anyone at L3Harris is picking up on similar undercurrents. Haven't heard any official word, and my direct manager is giving nothing away, but there's definitely a 'tightening the belt' feeling in some departments. Budgets seem to be scrutinized more, and there's been a lot of talk about 'synergies' and 'streamlining operations' in internal comms. Just wondering if this is widespread or if I'm just in a particularly 'optimized' corner of the company. Trying not to panic, but also want to be prepared. Anyone in different divisions hearing anything similar, or is it business as usual for you? Curious to hear from others who might be seeing the same things or have insights into how these things typically play out in our industry.

L3Harris: Any word on performance review impact on potential RIFs?

So, performance reviews just wrapped up at L3Harris, and the usual 'meets expectations' vs 'exceeds expectations' thing is out there. I'm trying to connect the dots here. For those who've been through RIFs at L3Harris or other defense companies, how much weight do these reviews *actually* carry when it comes down to who gets kept and who gets cut? My review was solid, but I know a few people who are on the bubble. It feels like everything is up in the air right now, and this review cycle feels more significant than usual. Curious if anyone has direct experience or knows how HR/management uses this data during workforce reductions. Is there a specific performance threshold that's typically the cutoff point? Or is it more about role redundancy and budget?

L3Harris: Heard anything about potential layoffs or restructuring?

Hey everyone, been seeing a lot of chatter on other defense forums about potential belt-tightening across the industry. Has anyone at L3Harris noticed any unusual signs lately? Like hiring freezes, project slowdowns, or just a general sense of unease? My team's workload has been a bit inconsistent, and leadership seems a little cagey when asked about future headcount. It could be nothing, but with the current economic climate and consolidation in the defense sector, it's hard not to worry. Anyone have any insights or heard any whispers from management or higher up? Trying to gauge the general sentiment across different divisions if possible. Is it just my area or is this a company-wide feeling?

Questions about L3Harris RIFs and performance reviews

Okay, so there haven't been any official announcements, but the whispers about potential RIFs at L3Harris are getting louder. I've been seeing some post-performance review discussions that seem a little intense, and I'm wondering if anyone has concrete information or even strong rumors about upcoming reductions in force. Are there specific departments rumored to be more impacted? Has anyone heard anything from management or HR that isn't just generic corporate speak? It's tough to plan or even just feel secure when there's so much uncertainty. Any shared experiences or insights would be greatly appreciated, especially if you're in a position where you might have visibility into this. Trying to prepare myself mentally and professionally, but a little solid info would go a long way.

L3Harris - Anyone else feeling the jitters lately?

Hey all, longtime lurker here. Been with L3Harris for a few years now, and lately, the vibe in the office (or on the calls, when we have them) feels... different. Not sure if it's just my department or a broader thing, but there's been a lot of hushed conversations and some odd silences in meetings where there used to be more open discussion. Our project pipeline still looks decent on paper, but I'm hearing murmurs about budget reviews and 'strategic realignments' that sound a bit too corporate for comfort. Just wondering if anyone else is picking up on this, or if I'm just overthinking things because of all the noise out there in the defense sector. Trying to stay optimistic, but it's hard not to feel a bit uneasy. Anyone have any insights or similar experiences? Trying to gauge the general sentiment across the company.
