Quiet hiring freezes or just normal end-of-year caution?

I’ve been trying to get a couple of positions filled in my department for months, and HR keeps putting it on hold under the guise of 'budget review.' It feels like every time I get a candidate through the pipeline, corporate hits the brakes. We are absolutely slammed with work, and everyone is working overtime, but they won’t give us the green light to hire. I’ve heard rumors that travel budgets are being slashed and bonuses might be tighter this year, which usually happens right before they pull the plug on certain roles. I’m starting to get nervous that they’re just waiting for a specific date to initiate a workforce reduction across the board. If you look at our stock price compared to the recent housing starts, it doesn't quite add up. Has anyone else had their open reqs frozen recently, or is my division the only one dealing with this nonsense? It feels like we are walking on eggshells. If anyone has heard anything concrete, please share—I’m tired of working 60-hour weeks in constant fear that I’m working myself out of a job.

Anyone else getting weird vibes from the division meetings?

Is it just me, or has the tone in our weekly division meetings shifted lately? Usually, management is all about the Q3 targets and pushing for faster closings, but lately, they seem more focused on 'operational efficiency' and 'realigning resources.' I’ve noticed a few headcount-related questions in the Q&A sessions being met with very rehearsed, vague answers that basically amount to 'we are watching the market.' I’ve been with Lennar for a few years, and usually, when they start talking about 'streamlining workflows' without giving actual details, it’s a red flag. We’ve seen other builders in the industry announce quiet cuts, and I can’t help but wonder if we’re next. Is anyone else seeing a sudden slowdown in procurement or weird project delays that don’t make sense? Trying to gauge if I should be polishing my resume or if I’m just being paranoid because of the current housing market noise. Honestly, the silence from corporate is the most stressful part. Would love to hear if other divisions are feeling this too.
