Andover site cuts – anyone have more intel?

Just saw the WARN notice hit for the Andover location. 64 people gone as of July 5th. It’s always the same story—management talks about 'strategic alignment' and 'optimizing resources,' but it just feels like the death by a thousand cuts. I’ve got friends in those programs and nobody saw it coming this early in the quarter. Is anyone else hearing rumors about whether this is just the start or if we’re finally seeing the bottom of this round? The morale in my department is absolute garbage right now. Every time a calendar invite pops up from leadership, half the room starts sweating. It’s hard to stay focused on these long-term contracts when you feel like a disposable headcount entry. If you were impacted, hope you guys land on your feet. Does anyone know if there’s a severance package update or if it’s just the standard boilerplate? Stay safe out there.

The 'strategic alignment' line is just corporate speak for cost-cutting to keep the stock price buoyed while the actual labor force suffers. Everyone knows the drill by now; management gives you the speech about efficiency, but the real impact is just more work for those left behind. Don't expect them to be transparent about whether more cuts are coming—they want to keep everyone guessing so projects don't hit a complete standstill while people look for new jobs. It’s a miserable cycle.

I was talking to a lead engineer yesterday who mentioned that the funding shifts in the new budget cycle are likely the real culprit here, not just general mismanagement. It’s brutal that people are finding out through public notices rather than direct communication. If you are worried about the next round, keep an eye on the program milestone reviews coming up next month. If a project misses a target, that’s usually where the next wave of 'optimization' hits hardest. Stay sharp.
