Anyone else feeling the pinch at LM? Any whispers of layoffs?

Hey all, been working at Lockheed for a few years now and things feel... weird. Project funding seems tighter, and there's been a lot of 'realignments' and 'strategic shifts' being talked about. My manager is being cagey when I ask about future headcount, and I've heard some chatter on other teams about people being pushed out or not having their contracts renewed. Nothing concrete, no official announcements, but the vibe is definitely shifting. Just wanted to see if anyone else is picking up on this or if it's just my division. Trying not to panic, but also want to be realistic about the job market. Are others seeing similar trends or is it business as usual in your neck of the woods? Wondering if it's worth starting to polish up the resume just in case.

Definitely picking up on the same vibe. There's a definite tension in the air that wasn't there even six months ago. More emphasis on 'efficiency' and 'synergy' which usually translates to less resources. I've noticed a lot more 'discussions' about performance metrics lately, and the usual buzz about new projects has quieted down. Hopefully, it's just a cyclical thing, but it's hard not to feel a bit uneasy.

Yeah, the 'strategic shifts' are pretty noticeable. Seems like a lot of the smaller, less critical programs are being consolidated or put on the back burner. I haven't heard direct layoff talk, but I have seen a lot more 'voluntary separation packages' being offered than usual. It feels like management is trying to trim fat without making big, scary announcements. Keep your resume updated, just in case.
