Budget cuts impacting projects?

Starting to feel a real pinch on some of the programs I'm involved with at Lockheed. Not hearing official layoff news, but there's definitely a sense of belt-tightening. My team's had a few requests for new software/hardware mysteriously disappear into the void, and travel budgets are suddenly extremely scrutinized. Some of the project leads are hinting at 're-prioritization' which sounds like code for 'we don't have the money we thought we did'. Anyone else experiencing this? Is this just the normal ebb and flow of defense contracts, or does it feel different this time around? Wondering if I should start dusting off the resume or if this is just a temporary hump.

Definitely seeing similar things here. It's not just the big-ticket items either; even smaller supply chain requisitions are getting stalled. Feels like the funding approvals are going through more layers than usual. The unofficial word is that some contracts are being renegotiated on the fly, which naturally causes delays and budget reviews. Makes it tough to plan long-term when you're constantly looking over your shoulder for the next round of 'efficiency measures'. Hoping it's a temporary thing and not a sign of bigger issues down the line.

Yeah, the 're-prioritization' speak is classic. We've been told for months that a certain R&D initiative was a top priority, only for the funding to suddenly evaporate and get redirected to a 'mission-critical' project that popped up out of nowhere. It's creating a lot of uncertainty and frustration among the engineers. Folks are starting to quietly update their resumes. Management keeps saying everything is fine, but the actions don't match the words. It's hard to stay motivated when you feel like your work is being devalued or is at risk.
