Contractor Hours & Workload - Red Flags?

Been on a contract with LM for a while now and lately the workload feels like it's ramping up significantly, while at the same time, there are whispers about budgets being scrutinized more than ever. My manager is being cagey about future project scope and staffing. It feels like they're trying to squeeze more out of the existing team before making any tough decisions. Has anyone else on the contractor side noticed a similar pattern? Are you seeing reduced opportunities for extensions or new contracts coming down the pipeline? It's making me a bit nervous about job security, even though I'm not a direct hire. Curious if this is a company-wide trend or specific to certain programs. Any intel would be appreciated.

Interesting you bring this up. Been seeing a similar squeeze on my end with LM. Lots of talk about efficiency drives and 'optimizing resources,' which usually translates to more work for fewer people. My own contract is up for renewal soon and the uncertainty around scope and funding is definitely a concern. It feels like a gamble right now whether they'll extend, and if so, with what kind of budget. Hoping for some clarity soon, but not holding my breath.

This sounds familiar. It's definitely a choppy sea out there with defense contractors right now. Budgets are always a moving target, but the recent shifts feel more pronounced. I've heard similar murmurs about scrutinizing every penny and being hesitant to commit to new headcount or long-term extensions. My advice? Keep your resume polished and explore other avenues, just in case the 'tough decisions' they're mulling over involve letting some contracts lapse. Better to be prepared.
